Remote thin clients are the best forward for most usecases and enthusiasts and goymers can't stand it for some reason. Why are we wasting so many resources making desktops and laptops and consoles that squeeze maybe 5% of the potential of the silicon over it's lifespan? The best way to do it are giant mainframes that can take advantage of scaling, and then remoting in with devices that's only job is to stream video from and IO to the server. Their battery life could be days, they could indestructible, cheap, and immune to obsolescence. >I don't want to be a rentcuck for compute Self host you dumb nigger. Imagine being able to bring your desktop and everything on your home network anywhere on the planet. Imagine being able to pitch into a group of friends or family to buy a top of the line computer that you can all use at once. My dream in the future is to have 13 kids and have them all seamlessly share a dual EPYC system with like 8 GPUs that I also use for AI and whatever other homelab shit
I just remembered there's wetware being developed. Local setup SoTa model will probably require 1TB VRAM by 30s, right? And that's expensive for fabs etc to shit out… but what about a garloid? A wetware has an upfront cost of setting up and running, but it probably scales cheap, right? Meat weaves itself, unlike most of our tech, which has to be painstakingly engraved in a chinaman life force extraction plant.
So, to ramp compute, are we inevitably going to turn to brain tissues? Maybe not human ones, but something people don't give a fuck about, like cuttlefish?
The default GrapheneOS photo editor fucking sucks. The preview of the screenshot you just took in the bottom left corner blocks it's UI and dragging to crop or anything else sets off swipe gestures
Japanese internet services provider GMO was hacked. Their response is to vibe code a publicly searchable index of every IP that visited GMO during the hack, and rely on the good will of the public to somehow identify the culprit through their prefecture and user-agent alone. Clearly, corporate Japan is unaware of the existence of VPNs, or really how the internet works at all.
