- Some models (like FZ-55) are advertised to have battery life of up to 40 hours with 2 batteries equipped, as Pornosonic claims (

- You can use one as a weapon in melee fights against niggers (some weigh over 3 kilos fully loaded).
- Various models/configurations are claimed to provide a thousand or more nit worth display brightness capacity, so you should be able to use it while touching grass under the sun. On top of that, some also feature over 200 PPI and/or a touchscreen which (as well as a touchpad in some cases) is also usable in gloves (may not look very useful to most, but I had to take off mine enough times to start valuing the option; if you need it, you need it).
- All the current models I checked are certified for RHEL (should be relevant for loonixscists and bsdykes).
- They are often said to be modular (with exceptions on which I'll expand a bit later in the text) and repairable, with fast access to components like the storage drive, batteries, and RAM (unless soldered).
- They may include various niche ports, or ones that are just rarely present nowadays. I am too lazy to continue writing points further, so that's it.
Though they are not particularly cheap, their price on the secondary market is usually a bit more expensive than the one of ThinkPads with similar base specs in my country (the situation may be different in your region, of course).
Some models (like aforementioned CF-33) are basically tablets with detachable keyboard blocks, which can be quite handy. But be aware that these (tablets) always have their RAM soldered, as I noticed. Touchpad technology may also differ between models (regular as on FZ-55 or rugged resistive as on CF-33) so take it into consideration as well.
If you get to like the idea of ToughBooks, it may make sense to look into other rugged/semi-rugged laptops/tablets as well.
As an owner of two ThinkPads from different eras, I intend to get a ToughBook as my next laptop. As of now, I am inclined towards FZ-55.
