Either a standalone headset that is basically a phone strapped to your face (Steam Frame, Meta Quest, ByteDance Pico) or a high-end gaming PC and a PCVR headset connected via displayport cable.
Some PCVR headsets (e.g. BigScreenBeyond) require base stations and separate controllers.

Steam Frame, if you can get one.
If you're a poorfag, get a used pico 4 for $250 on ebay.

You can get a Quest 2 for as low as $100, but it has major drawbacks:
- outdated lense technology
- requires a Meta account. for which Zuck makes you undergo a biometric face scan
- the weight distribution is very poor and can cause chronic neck/shoulder pain
- the OS and companion software is a pile of shit and gets worse with every update
- no 6ghz wifi support, so pcvr streaming sucks

Frame runs SteamOS, so you can run Linux desktop apps on it. Pico and Quest can run Android apps, including e.g. PS2 emulators and Termux.
