>>73215>The real answer is that video games are almost never art.I absolutely agree on that. Being charitable maybe 10% at most of all games i have ever played could pass as an honest effort ti make a fantastic piece of entertaiment so well thought out and masterfully designed that i would call it art.
Some are the metal slug trilogy, miyamoto games on the nintendo 64, the mother trilogy and peak rockstar with SA and Bully.
There are more but these ones are the first that come to my mind.
Developers have no incentive to make excellent games and no incentive to make honest attempts at art. Good games don't sell for being good, addictice games do. The business model for the last 18-20 years hasn't been making the best game, just the most addictive game in which production obfuscates critical thought and tricks you into thinking you are playing kino.
Rockstar and sony are the biggest culprits on this. Take out all the production and simulation from rdr2 anf you will notice its just a clunkier version of rdr1 for example, but horse balls and deep customization tricked idiots into thinking it was so much more when in reality you just gi behind cover and shoot with slow mo like in rdr1, only with worse animations.
