Games need solid structure, or they feel like garbage with no meaningful goals. It's ironic how the people who praise open world slop most often, are the ones who say other people need to touch grass, when the truth is that they are the delusional ones who ruin the essence of a game. You can make good open world games, but it requires way more effort than most people realize. Everything from basic gameplay to story has to be built with an open world as the only focus. Tossing some crappy enemy camps around is not good game design. Climbing over everything is not good game design because it actually ruins a player's need to overcome navigation obstacles. Nintendo actually made some of the worst possible open world games in BotW and TotK. They had it right in OoT and TP.
