Why does Tynan insist so much on calling Rimworld a "story generator"? Dwarf Fortress is a story generator because the sheer amount of different mechanics it simulates (from blood pressure, moods and individual smells to international politics, trade routes and wars) results in unpredictable and unique events happening naturally in every playthrough. There is nothing unique and unpredictable in Rimworld once your learn the mechanics, it's a colony management sim with RTS battle mechanics, and all the interesting happenings are just scripted events that trigger with a random chance.
