I think the "1.13 turd situation" was because of the long downtime between updates and the collapse of the MC youtuber ecosystem. This caused a severe lack of interest in the game which naturally went into other popular games at the time.

Disagree Minecraft YouTube ecosystem never really collapse in 2018 just became dry with other popular games beating it out it's mainly competition imo not lack of updates Minecraft just could not compete with the hype of Fortnite and Roblox in mid 2018 when those games took off but it peaked agian in 2019 due to it turning 10 years old
