Stop using zram in 2026 and use zswap instead. Swapfiles are decent especially if you are tight on storage and need to resize or drop it sometimes. Tmk its basically pointless for disk wear, even on an HDD. But a partition is better on an HDD because its put at the beginning of the drive on the outer edge of the disk which is faster to read and write. Zram is just outdated oldfag shit that doesn't use LRU and doesn't evict incompressible pages. Its worse in every way unless you can't swap to disk at all

dphys-swapfile is some Debian only raisin I've never used. Why not just edit fstab

no matter how much zram or zswap or whatever fancy shit you have, linux will ALWAYS freeze on oom because the oom killer is completely retarded and often doesn't even activate at all, leaving the system in an endless cycle of swapping things and trying to reclaim cache.
real operating systems like windows and macos do not have this problem because their developers have not been brainrotted by β-estradiols.

Meds, the memory subsystem is second to none. Why do you like all servers and supercomputers use it soipoopa. And if the OOM needs to kill at all its because some program is being a SLF or memory leaking its clitty all over the place
