Won't happen because Taiwan literally has MAD contingencies for its technology manufacturing. They will literally, unironically start destroying their factories and move all the brains to the US immediately if China sneezes too hard in their direction. It would end up being a huge waste of time and money for China, which is why China's real strategy is to buy up talent or documentation, which they're doing right now anyway. China's only real problem, is also the entire world's problem: ASML monopoly. Can't make top tier chips when the only machines that can make them in meaningful quantities and reliably are made by a single company. Even Intel is at the mercy of ASML.
On one hand, ASML is a blatant monopoly that does financially mess thing up for everyone and that can't be argued by anyone. On the other hand, having more than one company that can make the same tier of lithography machines is seen as a national security risk.
