>>83516For me the hardest part with this realisation is that I live in the shithole of the UK. The weather is dreadful, and I live in the south, I have no clue how anybody in the north lives. It doesn't help that I'm a mutt who spends most of their summer in the Aegean, so I get to see the sun and sea every year just to lose it again and go back to the shithole UK.
Like you said, you have to find what bothers you and change your life accordingly. I feel like my life is stuck in a loop of school and home, so i dedicate tike every week where I will spend some time in a park to remind myself that there is a life outside of the concrete. Paying attention to what you eat is also important, I wouldn't want to add being fat as a worry and eating better makes you mentally healthier too.
In terms of general guidance for what to do about depression, honestly it still hasn't gone away for me. The last two years were rough on me and I did have some cases of suicidal thoughts and mentally cracking where I would just cry myself to sleep. I kinda realised that nothing was going to happen if I stayed like that, and I managed to go through this winter without suicidal thoughts which is when i normally get the worst, though ive been feeling very melancholic throughout. I graduate this year and I realised that in my 18 years of life i have one, maybe two people that will not only spend time with me but also initiate a conversation, which is my definition of an actual friend. I will probably not see any of my other classmates a year after I graduate. Focus on making future plans, or long term goals that you enjoy and can look forwards to. I bought a skateboard recently and it helped with the melancholy feeling, at least it gives me a long term goal of getting better at that and it gets me outside the house. go hiking or camping maybe. Whatever you do, don't lock yourself indoors and live online, thats a fast track to feeling like shit for me.
You VVILL get better, try to find new things to do or try to make your life more interesting. Monotony really gets to me and makes me feel like im an animal with no mind of its own, best way to fight that is to do random things that caught your interest to add variety
