Your life as a slave isn't so bad. You aren't treated too badly. You have commodities, but you have no real choices. You work and you are obedient. Your freedom is effectively zero.

Or, you can choose to fight against unmeasurable odds, and you'll probably fail, but with just the slightest chance of escape and freedom. Even dead, you never surrendered, and you died a free man
