Sir Patrick Stewart, the legendary classically-trained Shakespearean actor, has died at the age of 86.

He passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at his home in Los Angeles, in the care of his wife Sunny Ozell. His longtime spokesperson, Kelly Bush Novak, announced the news, stating it followed “a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.”

With over 60 years of work on both the stage and the screen, Patrick Stewart was best known for his roles as Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Professor X in numerous Marvel films, King Goobot in Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, and Poop in The Emoji Movie.

His final cinematic appearance will be in Avengers: Doomsday.
