Today it was announced that Welsh singer-songwriter Gaynor Sullivan, professionally known as Bonnie Tyler, has suddenly died while being treated for an illness.

Bonnie Tyler was one of the biggest breakout stars of the 1970s and 1980s in the pop and rock music world. Her early hits such as "Lost in France," "More Than a Lover," and "It's a Heartache" reaching No. 4 in the UK and No. 3 in the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1977 and 1978. Her duet with Jim Steinman in 1983's "Total Eclipse of The Heart" was arguably the epitome of her career, with the album selling 13 million copies and becoming No. 1 worldwide. The following year, "Holding Out for a Hero" became an instant classic for the musical drama film Footloose.

In 2023, Tyler was awarded the honour of the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for her outstanding contributions to music and pop culture in the UK by Prince William on behalf of the wishes of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
