>>146880Unsurprising that "critics" or "enthusiasts" fell for it. They're very similar to another case of enthusiasts that we all know better: english teachers. Did you ever think it was bullshit when an english teacher would tell you that some minor detail in the book meant a huge deal and signified a whole other meaning to everything? Its because it is. Books will have more obvious meanings throughout it, and if it looks like a small detail, it probably is, the author didn't mean to hide the entire meaning behind a single adjective. Art critics are the same. They will make up some bullshit, and then tie it down to an arbitrary brush stroke or blob of paint that some contemporary "artist" flicked onto the canvas.
It happens all across the "critic" industry. People will bring regular shoes to a fashion competition, make up a brand for them and some nonsense about how fancy it is, and the critics will fawn over it. People brought supermarket wine to a wine critic thing and they made up some shit about how it has a rich quality or whatever. Critics don't actually have any sense of taste, they just lap shit up because if its expensive, it has to mean its good, right?
