The other thing they do, especially when you work somewhere when you have to talk to people a lot, is that multible different people will walk up to you and say the exact same sentence, it feels bizzare like you're meeting actuall NPC's. They will also say random things about you they shouldn't know about in public pretending they're talking to someone else, like saying you're internet username.
