the sharty is nothing like what it used to be, the threads styles are completely different, and for the worse. people engage in doxing, bait and drama all day instead of having fun.
moderation is the gentle hand to nudge the site in the right direction. just saying something 'doesn't break the rules' isn't enough. if you let bad posts fester, other users will see that behavior as okay.
the rule set isn't a constitution of rights, it's a pointer for what content you want on certain boards and even the entire site.
for example, non-paper craft threads are banned from /po/. it's not a hateful thing on the part of the moderation, but if anything could be posted there, likely very few papercraft stuff would remain.
rules aren't just to stop 'p being posted, unless that all you think they are? surely you have a vision for the site? the site's not just a blank slate for you, is it?
