Use this thread to recommend gems, anime, manga, light novels, VNs, etc. I will start:
I like Legendary Gambler Tetsuya. It's a mahjong shonen set in post-war Japan; in each episode the MC meets a new mahjong master with a cheating technique, and he has to figure out how to outcheat them. I think it has a better pacing than Akagi, although its not as intense. It's fun even if you aren't familiar with mahjong, but it's even better if you know how it's played. They never did a second season; you will either have to read the manga or learn moon runes and play the ps2 game to get the whole story.
