So I finished this mid and it was pretty mid but I noticed something that made me doctoos and either I need meds or deserve a media literacy phd.

I think it has vore as a thematic throughline. Eating is the VVill und representation.

Now of course the title "dream-eater merry" is pretty obvious
the plot is exactly that: ppl have dreams and femMC eats xem because they're all le bad! or something (evendoe we find out killing dreams robs the human host of their will, yikes!)
the main antagonist of the series is "the jungle" (consult the image) a notably THIN twig who like femMC always complains about "not being satisfied" or something like that, yeah?
(Sidenote: in a sense she's the king of the jungle, ie top of the food chain)
the difference is in xer host: the Jungle hosts on the nip squads teacher Iijima, which, according to the anime can be read as "Meshijima" which means "meal island" according to jewgle translate when I switch from nip to chink, and like his namesake, he's constantly eating, thereby displaying his Will, which is to dominate his students and to destroy their dreams.
Merry herself also eats quite a lot: donuts, which are empty inside, this will be important later, I swear.
When we do get to see moidMC's dream the compositional motif of his surrounding is starvation: In xis dream skeletal fish hang in the air and usually starts with the audiovisual cue of an empty food can (presumably tuna) rolling around or getting kicked over. He is the donut.
Of course at the end the Jungle is defeated, and this represents the triumph of German Idealism over Egoism; German idealism is our MC duo, where the VVill is external to the individual, and the individual is but a conduit, just like how a donut is defined by the LACK at its center, the German Idealist is characterized most commonly by a blind, undesiring faith in the coming-into-being of the VVill
The antagonist duo (the Junsle and Iijima) are obviously stand-ins for the egoist, Nietzschian pursuit of pure Will to Power
